Phone Connectivity
Up to date information on how to connect your hearing aids to your phone can be found below with links to the most recent apps. If you have older hearing aids that do not have Bluetooth, or are still having issues after following the below advice please do drop us a message with your phone model and hearing aids and we can support you further.

Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;
- You have the correct app downloaded, the buttons below will link directly to the necessary app.
- Your phone has been updated.
- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Oticon website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the Oticon Companion app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your phone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
7. Once you are happy these are connected launch the Companion App and you will be ready to go.
For Android users;
Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;
- You have the correct app downloaded, the buttons below will link directly to the necessary app.
- Your phone has been updated.
- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Signia website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the Signia app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your phone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
7. Once you are happy these are connected launch the Signia App and you will be ready to go.
For Android users;
If you have Signia hearing aids without Bluetooth enabled;
Then your aids will be connecting via the Manual option in the app which means that the app is connecting via high frequency sound pulses. When trying to connect this way keep the phone volume as high as possible as the hearing aids need to hear the commands to make any changes.
Once you have the app downloaded:
- Start the Signia app, you can use either button above to download the correct app for your device.
- Locate the Connect via Manual function in the menu.
- When asked if you have RUN model aids click ‘No’.
- Open and close both battery doors to get the aids into pairing mode.
- When pairing listen for the pairing confirmation tone in both aids.
- When asked how many programs you have enter the number you have installed, if unsure skip this step.
- When asked about directionality click ‘Yes’.
- When asked about Tinnitus click ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ dependant on whether you have this installed.
- When asked about Telecare, click on ‘Setup Later’.
- Once the app is up and running, and if you have more than one program, go to the program selection screen, click on the pencil icon and rename the programs appropriately.
Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;

- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Phonak website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
- Open the above link to the Phonak app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
- Ensure your Bluetooth is switched ‘On’ in your iPhone settings.
- Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
- Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
- If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
- Once paired you will hear a beep from the hearing aids. You are now set up.
For Android users;
- Ensure your Bluetooth is ‘On’ in your phone settings. You will also need to allow Location Services for the initial setup.
- Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either opening the door for the batteries for 5 seconds, or for rechargeable hearing aids, by pressing the lower part of the button until the LED turns red, then by pressing the same button until the LED turns green.
- Under the heading on your phones Bluetooth list saying ‘Available Devices’, the name of the hearing aids will appear. This can take a little while so be patient and ensure that the hearing aids are placed directly next to the phone. When they appear tap to select it.
- When it asks you to accept a Bluetooth Pairing Request, click ‘Ok’. The Bluetooth pairing request might not appear in the foreground of the app. Instead, it may show up in the phone’s Notifications list.
- You are now connected and can use the app. Tap “Continue” to complete the process or select “Optional settings” to see how to enable hearing aid controls for phone calls and streaming.

- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the ReSound website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the ReSound Smart 3D app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your phone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
7. Once you are happy these are connected launch the Smart 3D App and you will be ready to go.
For Android users;
2. Open the above link to the ReSound Smart 3D app and once it is downloaded, click to open it.
Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;
- You have the correct app downloaded, there are a couple of Starkey apps available, the links and instructions below are for the Starkey Genesis. To find the relevant app for the other models please click here.
- Your phone has been updated.
- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Starkey website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the My Starkey app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your phone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
7. Once you are happy these are connected launch the My Starkey App and you will be ready to go.
For Android users;
- Ensure your Bluetooth is ‘On’ in your phone settings.
- Open the above link to the My Starkey app and once it is downloaded, click to open it.
- Turn the hearing aids OFF then ON again by placing them in the charger for 3-5 seconds or by pressing the button for 3-5 seconds to turn them off, then press again for 3-5 seconds to turn them on again.
- From the app home screen, select ‘Get started’.
- Review the terms of use: This includes End User License Agreement and privacy policy. Tap ‘Accept’ to continue.
- The app will ask permission to use location services to locate your hearing aids. Tap ‘Allow’.
- The app will start the pairing. Ensure the hearing aids are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
- When a pair of hearing aids is found, the app will prompt you to confirm they are yours and tap ‘Pair’ .
- You’ll be asked to link the My Starkey app with the hearing aids. Tap ‘Allow’.
- The hearing aids are now paired.
Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;
- You have the correct app downloaded, each Widex hearing aid model has a different app, the links and instructions below are for the Widex Moments. To find the relevant app for the other models please click here.
- Your phone has been updated.
- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Widex website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the Widex Moments app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your phone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.
7. Make sure to slide to OFF – the “Play System Sounds” to hearing aids for the best performance.
7. Once you are happy these are connected launch the Moments App and you will be ready to go.
For Android users;
- Ensure your Bluetooth is ‘On’ in your phone settings.
- Open the above link to theWidex Moments app and once it is downloaded, click to open it.
- From the app home screen, select ‘Get started’.
- Choose which Power source your hearing aids are using, click on the picture that matches your hearing aids.
- Turn the hearing aids OFF then ON again by placing them in the charger for 3-5 seconds or by pressing the button for 3-5 seconds to turn them off, then press again for 3-5 seconds to turn them on again.
- Select ‘Next’.
- Select the Available hearing aids and the app will start the pairing. Ensure the hearing aids are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
- Select ‘Pair’ for each hearing aid.
- The hearing aids are now paired.
Prior to proceeding with the instructions please check the following;
- You have the correct app downloaded, the buttons below will link directly to the necessary app.
- Your phone has been updated.
- Your phone is compatible with the hearing aids you have and does not need an additional accessory. This can be done on the Unitron website by clicking here.
For iPhone users;
- Go to your iPhone home screen and tap on the Settings icon.
- In the settings menu, tap on the Bluetooth icon.
- Tap on the slider button next to Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth ‘On’.
- Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either opening the door for the batteries for 5 seconds, or for rechargeable hearing aids, by pressing the lower part of the button until the LED turns red, then by pressing the same button until the LED turns green.
- The name of the hearing aids will appear on the iPhone screen. This can take a little while so be patient and ensure that the hearing aids are placed directly next to the phone. When they appear tap to select it.
- When it asks you to accept a Bluetooth Pairing Request, click ‘Ok’ or ‘Pair’.
- A connection beep will be heard in the paired hearing aids.
- You are now connected and can use the app to change volumes and programs as well as stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids.
For Android users;
- Ensure your Bluetooth is ‘On’ in your phone settings.
- Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either opening the door for the batteries for 5 seconds, or for rechargeable hearing aids, by pressing the lower part of the button until the LED turns red, then by pressing the same button until the LED turns green.
- Under the heading on your phones Bluetooth list saying ‘Available Devices’, the name of the hearing aids will appear. This can take a little while so be patient and ensure that the hearing aids are placed directly next to the phone. When they appear tap to select it.
- When it asks you to accept a Bluetooth Pairing Request, click ‘Ok’.

- You are now connected and can use the app to change volumes and programs as well as stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. To accept incoming calls to the Bluetooth hearing aids, calls should be answered using the push button on the hearing aids.

For iPhone users;
1. Open the above link to the Bernafon app and ensure it is downloaded, you do not want to open the app at this point, just ensure it is downloaded ready.
2. Ensure your Bluetooth is switched ‘On’ in your iPhone settings.
3. You will need to connect the hearing aids to the iPhone before launching the app so please follow this route;
Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aid Devices
If it shows that they are already connected or a connection to only one of them select it and click ‘Forget’ and restart your iPhone, then follow the route again.
3. When you open ‘Hearing Aid Devices’ it will start searching.
4. Restart your hearing aids, this can be done by either removing their batteries, or placing them in their charger for 3 seconds and then removing them.
5. Allow the app time to search for your hearing aids, ensure that they are on a table next to the phone and be patient, it can take a few minutes.
6. If the phone requests permission to pair select ‘Accept’.

For Android users;
