HEARING TEST
Why not take a moment to listen to senior audiologist Paul McKay explain what to expect in a Hearing Test.
At Richmond Hearing we are happy to provide a free Hearing Test to all our patients.
The Hearing Test will be completed by one of our trained audiologists in either one of our clinics or in the comfort of your own home. A background hearing history will be taken followed by a full ear examination and then the Hearing Test.
The Hearing Test appointment will last between 30-90 minutes depending upon your results and if you wish to trial any Hearing Aids.
At Richmond Hearing we offer a prompt money back guarantee within the 30 Day Trial Period. This gives you the opportunity to ensure your Hearing Aids are meeting your needs.
EARWAX REMOVAL
An opportunity to hear senior audiologist Paul McKay explain what to expect from Earwax Removal.
Microwax Suction is a safe and quick procedure that removes the build up of excess earwax.
Excess earwax can cause pressure, a painful inner ear and/or a loss of hearing.
We recommend the use of olive oil products like Earol (a clinically treated olive oil) for a few days prior to the procedure. This works to help loosen the wax and allow for easier removal.
One of our qualified audiologists will remove the excess wax using a low pressure suction unit within a 20 minute session.
Our charge for these appointments is £80. For Microwax Suction Home Visits please contact us to check we cover your Post Code and for price details.

Hearing Aids
Types of Hearing Aids
In the Canal (ITC) Completely in Canal (CIC) Invisible in Canal (IIC)
In the Canal aids are a little smaller than ITE aids and fit into the opening part of the ear.
Completely in Canal and Invisible in Canal are both barely visible and fit even further into the opening of the ear.
RECEIVER IN THE EAR HEARING AIDS (RITE)
The device is slightly smaller than a BTE and is connected by a thin wire to a speaker in the ear.  These are much less visible than BTE’s.
BEHIND THE EAR HEARING AIDS (BTE)
This is a small device which fits behind your ear. This is attached to an ear mould made to the shape of your ear.
Features of Modern Hearing Aids
INVISIBLE HEARING AIDS
Discreet, Invisible, In the Ear (ITE) Hearing Aids.
These aids fit entirely inside your ear canal offering complete discretion as they are almost invisible.
RECHARGEABLE HEARING AIDS
Rechargeable aids can be charged overnight for a full day’s use.
They remove the inconvenience of changing batteries and are beneficial for people with dexterity problems.
Hearing Aids For Single-Sided Deafness
CROS/BICROS HEARING AIDS
A Cros system is used when you have lost all of your hearing in one ear. The aid in the ear with hearing loss receives the sound from the deaf side and sends it to a hearing aid in the good ear. This allows all the sounds to be heard from all around.
A Bicros Hearing Aid is similar to a Cros System except the aid receives the sound from the deaf side and mixes it with its own input and then amplifies the mixed signal.
